Connecting with the Universe - Is a Way of Growing Your Self and Your Business

As I have said on this page many times, connecting with the universe helps you get what you want. My book " The Ten Commitments to a Better Life" was written in one weekend. The way it happened was quite amazing. I had been writing a book about " new age sales" sort of a best practices for selling in the modern era. I had close to 150 pages written when my hard drive crashed. I lost the book. Thomas Leonard the founder of Coach University and literally everything that was written or created in coaching had also just passed away. I was devastated. I had just talked with Thomas a few months earlier as he made his journey around North America by RV, selling his book "The Portable Coach.".

One night a couple of weeks after my computer melt down, I could not sleep. Life was getting crazy for me as I had a full service advertising agency and the pace I was keeping was nuts. I was also slightly bummed out, Thomas, the book; life just was not getting any better. Sitting in my wife's most comfortable chair, I took out my journal and started to think about what I should write about. I thought that the biggest problem for most of my clients is they could not commit to the changes that they needed to make to have more in their lives.

At that point I started writing the ten commitments people needed to make to make their life better. I carried these around on a piece of paper, posted them in my office and even delivered a couple of short presentations on "The Ten Commitments to a Better Life" to a couple of business groups.

One Saturday morning armed with a cup of coffee and the spa channel on the satellite radio, the ten commitments were written. At that time, I felt as if Thomas was talking through me. I got the tingles and the hair on the back of my neck went up, as the words flowed through me like a mad man.

Sunday afternoon around 2:00 pm the book was finished. Although its only 75 pages, in my mind it is a masterpiece of direct contact with the universe. I added a self help guide and had an editor review it for grammar and spelling.

Today it is one of my really fine personal accomplishments, as one should always have a legacy project. Two copies sit in the National Library of Canada archives and to date, 1500 copies have been sold, given away or sent to publishers. Not a great deal of books, but the results have been fascinating. Everyone who I have talked to that has read it says they have received one small thing that has changed their life. Its not too often that you can create something that really makes a difference.

So, connect with the universe if you can, through meditation, prayer, contemplation or whatever. Listen to the inner voice and act upon what is given. It may be a simple book that makes a difference or it could be the next Facebook or Google. Either way you will be acting upon your inner passion and making your life more of what it is for you and what you supposed to become. Who knows the next Mircosoft could be just around the corner.
