Committing to Self Expression

I have been writing this blog for some time now along with about four others and its amazing how much self expression can help you have a better understanding of yourself.

One of the key reasons most humans have trouble sorting themselves out is that they have a lot of creative energy swirling around them all the time. Most people refuse to pay attention to this creative spirit. I play music, write poetry, write and generally interested in anything that has a creative soul. I believe that this creative spirit is playful, fun, supportive and extremely helpful in helping you find out about more of who you are. You just need to let it in.

In my book the " Ten Commitments to a Better Life", I have one commitment dedicated to knowing where you fit it. I truly believe that it is this creative spirit that will help you do that. The aboriginal people have many traditions including drum ceremonies which they say helps connect them to their creator. I know that there is nothing better than banging out a few assorted riffs on the keyboard with a band full on and in the pocket. How many times have you listened to classical music and been taken to a higher place. It is this creative spirit that is a work all the time.

In order to get to that place, I suggest that you commit to carrying out one act of self expression this week. For example you can write in your journal. This one act will help you develop a relationship with your self and your self expression. Try to learn a new instrument even if its a drum. Listen to the sound and how it inspires your soul.

I made a commitment to learn a new instrument every year and now play key boards, harmonica, accordion extremely well along with cowbell and triangle. I still have not mastered the guitar even though I tried various approaches over the years only to decide to focus on keyboards and leave the guitar to Eric Clapton and John Mayer.

So when your creative spirit stirs -- give it some food for thought. I cannot tell you how many times our band has played and people come up to me and say, "god I wish I could do that". I say you can. You only need to put one foot in front of the other and get started.

How to Have Your Best Year Ever

As the year comes to an end its always a good time to reflect on what has been happening in your life. This is not the time to make a bunch of ill conceived new year's resolutions. In order to have the best year of your life you need to get back to that place where you feel you belong. This usually requires some form of key decision making about where you are right now, right here right now. This is a great place to start. Get yourself a planning journal.

This book should become your bible for the new year. Start with a review of where you have been in the past year and where you would like to go. Take everything just as it is, bumps and all and write it down. Develop your dream journal so you can have a few new things on the horizon. The secret is that the power of attraction will move towards you as you start to get more in integrity about where you are and where you want to go.

The dream list should point out a few new opportunities. The other keys to having your best year ever, are to believe, that what it you are looking for this year will just show up. The only thing to be aware of is that it may not happen as fast as you would like. A good trick and one that is used by a lot of zen practitioners is to participate in segment living. In other words, taking sections of the year and building them into segments. You develop a focus through concentrating on focusing on each segment of your life.

Understanding everything about where you are now, what it is you are experiencing and then fully living each and every experience. Each segment has a focus so that everything your are doing has meaning.

As soon as you have faith in what it is your are experiencing especially with the truths that you experience and accepting then what it is that is given to you. The other key is to know it will show up. The biggest issue with most people is; they usually give up thinking or manifesting what it is they want too soon. Remember the universe works on its own time.

So this year when you go into that state of depression where everything you wanted has not shown up yet, go back to your journal and start manifesting a whole lot more. When you commit to something and focus in on it, it will have a better chance of success than not committing to anything at all. Its time to manefist you best year ever.

Attracting What You Want is About Making Commitments

By now you have heard about the power of attraction and the help the universe gives to you on an ongoing basis. The reason this works so well is, when you are more firmly committed to what it is you want, lots of good things happen.

For example, if you commit to having something clear and concise to happen to you, you have a better chance of achieving it, by committing to it rather than wishing or hoping it will happen.

Here is a perfect statement. I am committing to making more money and will get a new job this year that pays me more and makes me happy. This is a perfect commitment statement.

Commitment is also about intention. Commitment then is: making a firm decision with the intent of having something happen that brings about the outcome we desire.

In my book "The Ten Commitments to a Better Life", I ask the reader to commit to " knowing " that there is a power greater than the individual reading the book.

Knowing that there is a power that exists that is greater than you personally and committing to it, puts a powerful force behind everything now that you want to do.

Fear, worry, lack of courage all disappear just by making this one simple commitment. So, by knowing and committing to this thought, that there is a power greater than you and applying this thinking, it is like having a major partner helping you get what it is you want. We know we have the power around us and now we can apply our personal power giving us a better opportunity of achieving the proper outcome.

Its that simple. When one commits to knowing what one is looking for it usually shows up. Think about it, there are no mysteries in the world, everything happens because we are able to see it because we are committed to seeing it when it appears. Making a commitment allows us to see the sign posts guiding us to where it is want to be or to the things we want. Non commitment then -- leaves us still searching and wandering.

If you are not sure where you are going, any road will get you there. Most of us are usually on the wrong road most of the time because we don't commit to what road we want to take. Its this indecisiveness that keeps us off balance and gives us our lack of focus.

The truth is, life becomes easier when we are honest with what it is we really want and when one commits to something more meaningful. It gets easier to be in integrity and easier to live with more truths and less lies.

The lack of commitment also allows most humans to wander around aimlessly experimenting with life, but not really getting what it is they want because they are always searching and still doing what I call research. Research is great, however a some point you need to commit to what it is you want, where you want to be, and where you want to fit in. Its that simple. Once you do that, the universe has a clear understanding of what it is you want and then can proceed to help you in your quest.
